‘Certain Attraction’, Carys Norwood, 2024

I turn myself into the bow, I turn myself into the arrow.Yet, I still yearn to become the target of your love.

At the intersection of L.O.V.E, D.E.S.I.R.E. AND H.E.A.R.T.B.R.E.A.K we find emos and archery.Undulating silhouettes, slouching shoulders, bow strings, demure glances and vulnerable hearts.I subvert symbols of archery, archetypes of sportswear and explore garments reminiscent of the emo subculture of the early mid 2000’s to tell astory of the ache of first love. With a child-like lens, I reminisce my first experience of adolescence, vicariously, through my older siblings and cousins.

Through denim, cotton jersey and leather I created a layered andinterchangeable wardrobe-like collection that undulates between poetic wearability and emotive sculptural expressions.

the fall of love and the thud of heart break, cupid never seems to catch uswhen we’re young.
